    Description

This is a vintage model kit for “The Wanderer” made by the Eagle Model Aircraft Company in Brooklyn NY. The wingspan is 54 1/2 inches.
The schematic/drawing is copyrighted 1946, though I don’t know if this kit was built that year or later on. It’s definitely very old.
ONE SPECTACULAR FEATURE: I don’t often use the word “spectacular”, but I think it’s a deserving description for the main schematic/drawing. Personally, were I keeping this model kit, I’d have the schematic/drawing framed and mounted for display. The main schematic/drawing is approximately 53” x 41”. There’s also a smaller separate schematic for the wing ribs.
Condition: eBay only offered the listing choices of “New” and “Used”. It’s never been built, but it would be way too much of a stretch to call it new since it’s a “garage find” and I haven’t done a complete parts inventory. Of the 1-7 “Kit Contents” items listed on the front of the box, #4 and #7 are missing. I think #4 “liquids” just referred to the glue. I did find two evaporated tubes in the box, but threw them away since they’re useless. As for #7, I didn’t see anything in the box that matches a “Tru-Contact Battery Case, Etc.”, however you’re likely to want to use something modern like Li-Ion or LiFePo4 batteries, so the original battery case probably wouldn’t work out anyway.
It is possible that other pieces are missing. This kit is being sold As-Is. That said, the majority of the parts are definitely present, particularly all of the sections with blue printed outlines on them. The tissue paper seems to have been damaged by rust from the metal landing gear being in contact with it for up to 75 years. See close-up photo. In two of the close-up photos of the balsa you can see a small dent that I believe is from one of the wheel hubs pressing into it. At least one rectangular piece of balsa is broken, you can see it in the group photo just under the pile of long pieces.
NOTE: this kit never included a motor. They were always sold separately.
