4 Organic Brown Rice Flour Organic Vermiculite Mushroom Large Substrate Bags.
These mushroom substrate bags contain over 300 grams of stone-ground organic brown rice flour and vermiculite, an organic version of the original.
Each bag has been mixed with care and contains sterilized and aerated mushroom substrate, equivalent to over half a pint. The bags measure 5” by 5” by 19” with a 0.2-micron filter, all constructed of 2.5 mm polypropylene. The bag’s larger size allows for in-bag fruiting and contains more substrate than other sellers! The expected time from inoculation to fruiting is around 6-8 weeks.
To ensure a sterile environment for the mushrooms, disinfect the bag’s surface to avoid any unwanted contamination before and during inoculation. Afterward, cover with waterproof tape to seal. We do sterilize the bags before we ship them, but this step is vital to ensure that any unwanted contaminants don’t interrupt the growing process in your own home.
This substrate contains all the vital nutrients and level of moisture that benefits mushroom growth, and its light consistency ensures a healthy and plentiful yield. To begin the growth process, inoculate the bag with 2-4 cc (2-4 ml) of your desired legal spore solution or 5-8 cc (5-8ml) of legal liquid culture. Be careful when inoculating the bag because any contamination presents a risk of infection to the substrate.
The water content of the bag is just right for an optimal yield! However, make sure to keep track of the water content of the medium. If the water level becomes too high, then the mushrooms can grow slower than expected due to impaired oxygen flow. Any excess moisture will collect in the bottom of the bag, and the mycelium can become stunted as well. Regularly water the bag to establish a proper balance of water and nutrition!
