Description
History: Ernest Lowry, world champion model plane builder, engineer, designer and competitor during the 1960's and 1970's. Mr. Lowry's designs and engineering upgrades have been incorporated into many of the top model plane and model plane engine manufacturers. Seven years ago I purchased Mr. Lowry's home and shop and I will be able to offer these control line racing, stunt and endurance engines and related parts and accessories. Discerning collectors and those who appreciate their uniqueness will surely know how to best handle, display, clean and resurrect them to their full potential. My apologies if any of this is in error, but I have provided as many detailed photos as possible that I hope will show potential bidders what they need to know. I found a cache of old model airplane boxes in the rafters of the shop. They have obviously been there for over fifty years and many show their age. I will list each individually over the next couple of weeks and point out the problem areas and any other pertinent information for each one. It appears that all the boxes are from the early 1960's to mid 1970's. I have seen these boxes matted and framed or displayed as they are. You'll note the photo showing Mr. Lowry's "SNARK RAT" rat racer being featured in the 1961 issue of "FLYING MODELS", one of many articles in several model plane publications.
NOTE: I have no way of knowing what these pieces are for. They could just be scraps from various models or there may be some pieces from the original kit. I am not making any claims as to what these balsa pieces belong to. If they're useful to you, great. All I know is, these kit boxes were in the rafters of the shop and they're being offered exactly as found. Could be junk or could be someone's treasure.
You are bidding on a circa 1960's Carl Goldberg model airplane box for Riley Wooten's "VOODOO" kit, filled with balsa wood templates, parts and pieces. Offered exactly as found in the shop rafters. I can't attest to what model plane items these pieces belong to, but these are the contents as found. I've provided several photos to help you ascertain their use and value to you. The box measures 1 1/2" by 4 3/4" by 37". The box is rough, but has decent color and graphics as shown in photos. Mr. Lowry never wasted anything and he often used the "drops" to trace out new pieces. The box has seen better days, but can probably be used for display or whatever comes to mind.
