    Description

The light wedge is used when the screw tab holding the light in place is broken off. This plastic device wedges the light tight in place when tightened with the 3" long stainless steel screw.  CMP

The “light wedge” is an adjustable plastic wedge and stainless steel screw that goes through the light ring. After the bottom of the fixture catches on the niches bottom the fixture should be tilted up until the fixture is flush with the wall and the wedge is inside the niches. As the screw is tightened the wedge tightens against the side of the niches and fixture “wedging” it in
    Question:
where does this attach to? My pool light does not reach the hook tab of the niche, will this help?
    Answer:
The small tabs on my pool lite had corroded down and was not holding the lite fixture in place. The wedge goes behind the lip, inside of the frame. When you tighten the screw, it pulls the rubber wedge in and holds the lite fixture in place. I had tried a few things prior that did not work for long, I have not had an issue with the lite since I put that wedge in!! A simple and inexpensive fix!!

The screw attaches through the top side rim of the light enclosure, where the old screw was. The rubber goes behind the rim. As you screw in, the rubber will move towards you until it wedges itself between the light fixture and the niche. The hook tab on mine was broken. The wedge worked perfectly.

I used 2 wedges total because I had no tab on the bottom either -they worked - put 2 wedges in opposite holes at the same time -then pushed light in then tighten one on top and the other on bottom until snug. Worked like a charm.

If your lite is a normal design you wedge it between the inner wall of the pool and the lite outer housing.. Wedge it in with the screw all the way out then as you tighten and pull the screw it in it will start to press against the wall of the pool and pull the light in tight.

It rides along the top of the housing and fills the gap so your fixture will reach the hook. Worked great for me.

It jams behind the lip of the circular enclosure in which the light is housed. The screw of this device passes thru the lights frame and locks the black rubber jam in place. It worked for my application.

For my pool, I took the light out and put it up on the deck, installed the wedges and then placed the light back into it's opening on the side of the deep end. I did not have to drain any water.

i did it with the pool full - no problem at all and it worked really well. I don't know why they use such flimsy material on the OEM light frame.

It can be installed while full. Easier with a second set of hands. Just never turn on the pool light outside of the water.

It can be, but it is a little tricky that way. I used a pair of goggles so I could see and a weight belt to keep me in place :-)

Yes, you can install while the pool is full if the light is within reach or at least not way on the bottom of the wall. The pool I used this on, the light was about halfway down. The screw wouldn't hold because the framing had stripped out. This wedge was a life saver.

Yes can be installed under water. Need a snorkel and mask.
